Consider the importance of individual action and how it transforms lives:
We are pleased to announce a high impact year in 2023.
No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child: A. Lincoln
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are: T. Roosevelt
We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference: N. Mandela
I alone can’t change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples: M. Teresa
Imagine you know children or grandchildren who are in college and doing well. They are good, diligent students. However, for some reason, they have lost their financial support they need, and they have had to drop out! What can they do? How disheartening for them and their families. This is the recent situation that VillageSteps bridges for many students and their families.
HIGHLIGHTS
Through partnership with a national bank and a Zambian company, we managed to clear the university arrears of 13 students allowing them to continue their education.
With these companies and U.S. donors, we added 11 students to sponsorship, bringing the total to 36 under sponsorship with us and our partners. 28 of them are medical students.
Three university students graduated and obtained jobs in the medical field.
We helped get our two secondary students through secondary school and into the University of Zambia with 100% tuition scholarship.
Being able to help an individual child to begin or to continue schooling is the best highlight.
ONE EXAMPLE:
I am 22 years old pursing a degree in nursing at Chreso University. This is my final semester and I have a balance of k9390 in total.
I am writing to you because I need a scholarship to help me pay my tuition and logistics fees as I am almost dropping out due to not having a sponsor. My Father had a stroke twice these past four years and my mother is taking care of him. They have no income and finding tuition fees has been a struggle.
I understand that there are other students with worse situations than mine but we all share the same pain and hope. Your organization has done amazing things for students like me and I hope you do the same for me.
Your help will enable me to complete my studies and help me become a developer of the community and beyond. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours Faithfully
