Shoe for Smiles. Walk this Way campaign:
VillageSteps has joined with World Vision Zambia, local companies and a local radio station to raise funds for shoes for children.
– Tuesday, February 3, 2026 -World Vision Zambia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Village Steps Foundation to strengthen access to education, dignity, and well being for vulnerable children across the country.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, World Vision Zambia National Director Marc Nosbach said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving learning outcomes for children, especially in underserved communities.
“This partnership goes beyond a formal agreement. It is a commitment to the dignity and future of the Zambian child,” he said.
Mr. Nosbach highlighted key education challenges, including high pupil teacher ratios, low early grade reading outcomes, and infrastructure gaps in rural areas. He noted that many learners in Grade 2 struggle to read simple text, which limits long term learning progress.
Through the new partnership, World Vision Zambia and Village Steps Foundation will launch the “Shoes for Smiles. Walk This Way” campaign. The initiative will provide over 10,000 pairs of shoes to vulnerable children in Sioma, Chipili, Lumezi, and Kasama districts.
The MoU focuses on:
- Promoting school attendance, dignity, and child safety
- Mobilizing corporate partners to support the initiative
- Prioritizing vulnerable children in World Vision supported areas
- Joint branding on campaign materials and events
“A pair of shoes is an equity tool that helps a child walk into school with confidence and dignity,” Mr. Nosbach said.
Bicycles for Girls

Across many communities, the journey to school is one of the greatest barriers girls face in accessing education. For thousands of girls, the simple act of getting to class every day requires walking long distances—often leaving home before sunrise and returning after sunset. This daily struggle affects not only their attendance but also their safety, confidence, and future opportunities.
A bicycle is more than a mode of transport for a girl.
It is protection, freedom, and a pathway to a better life.
Hygiene pads with WOMEN’S CLUB
We continue to support the Kabanana’ s Women Initiative. They are helping prepare meals at the preschool. Through a partnership with WV Zambia, they will make hygiene pads for girls to reduce missed school days and even drop outs.
